The budget. Keeping the wedding budget tight is a must, so that honeymoon can be exactly what you always dreamt! Finding an interest-free payment plan can be a complete budget-saver when it comes to finding your dream dress. Taking advantage of an initial down payment and monthly installments will free more of your budget for, well, everything else that comes up in the meantime.
Sticking to your guns. You could find a dress that initially made you say YES!, but if you continue looking that might turn into a confusing …yes? as you find overwhelmingly more dresses. Wedding dresses are specialty garments that can’t be returned or exchanged. When you say YES!, take comfort in knowing you got to check off a huge item on your to-do list, and take the waiting time to fall even more in love with it. Special order dresses can take 4-6 months to arrive, so be ready to get in to try it on right away when it arrives!
The perfect fit. Expect to need alterations to make your wedding dress fit perfectly and be truly yours. Most wedding dresses are cut to standard measurements, so you will likely need things like a hem and adjustments to seams and straps to make it fit like a glove. You will also probably want a custom bustle added to hold the train up during the reception. No tripping for you (at least over the dress… feet can’t be helped)! You should start this about four to six weeks before your wedding day, since you’ll need about three to four appointments to get it just right.
